This study conducted a Systematic Literature Review to investigate how the relationship between educational level and income distribution was studied between 1977 and 2024. Based on the analysis of 101 articles extracted from the Scopus and Web of Science databases, a significant growth in publications on the topic was observed, with an average increase of 1.49% each year over the period, evidencing its growing relevance in academia. The bibliometric analysis revealed the formation of four clusters of influential authors, with a predominance of quantitative studies, especially regressions. However, the direct relationship between educational level and income distribution was often addressed in a secondary way, with the main focus being discussions on economic growth and income inequality. This study highlights the need for further investigation into how educational level directly impacts income distribution. The study allowed us to identify gaps in the literature and a series of proposals for future research.
