This article aims to address sustainable development from techniques adopted in family farming as a means of protecting the environment and its effective contribution to development and sustainability in the North Plateau of Santa Catarina. It seeks to present the great importance of environmental protection linked to agricultural production in the family harvest in the region, conceptualizing family farming and demonstrating the great role of this activity in sustainable economic growth, allowing natural resources, so scarce, to be protected as prayed. the Federal Constitution. The research hypothesis is that the techniques adopted by family farming achieve environmental protection. It is an exploratory and bibliographical research with consultation to the specialized doctrine. The method used is deductive, since it is already based on the premise of the importance of family farming for the region. It is concluded that the hypothesis was confirmed since family farming offers the production of healthy foods, with techniques that tend to preserve biodiversity and the environment, ensuring sustainable economic growth, and that this activity has evidently expanded in recent years, guaranteeing individual and diffuse rights, supporting a balanced environment for future generations, as stated in the Federal Constitution of 1988.
