Abstract

This article seeks to understand the historical context and application of the carbon trade over the years, since it’s forecast established through the Kyoto Protocol. In this way, the objective is to analyze the environmental and social implications brought about by the implementation of this trade, in a scenario of need for changes and solutions, in the face of the increase in global warming. In addition, the applicability of the Carbon Credit is questioned with regard to the practical results for the reduction of the emission of gases that cause the greenhouse effect, in particular, the Carbon Dioxide. The qualitative methodology and the deductive approach are used, through a doctrinal and documental analysis, as well as bibliographic research, especially related to the areas of Environmental Law and the like. Thus, as a conclusion of the presented context, the need for national regulation on the subject is highlighted, as well as the urgency in the implementation of projects that reduce the emission of carbon dioxide, in joint actions at the international level.
