Abstract

Food insecurity is a condition that affects almost two billion people worldwide, getting worse under certain climate conditions. Through the PRISMA methodology, a systematic review was carried out on the relationship between food security and the semiarid. Three sets of keywords were used and, from 75 articles, 13 were selected for evaluation. The analysis of these prepared works clearly shows that there is a condition of food insecurity in the Brazilian semiarid region and that, despite the existence of public policies, they are ineffective in certain aspects. It is necessary to intensify research in the region to improve coexistence with the region's environmental conditions.

Keywords: Food insecurity. Northeast. PRISMA.
