The Professional Master's Degree in Regional Development at Centro Universitário Alves Faria – UNIALFA and the challenges of research on regional development in the interior of the country

Abstract

This paper aims to present the proposal and the trajectory of the Professional Master's Degree in Regional Development at Centro Universitário Alves Faria - UNIALFA. Regional characteristics and demands, composition on the structure of the research lines that support the disciplines and research are presented, as well as the future challenges of the program and from the area of knowledge itself. As main results, it is possible to verify that the program is configured as an important instrument for the debate on Development, on the characteristics of the Development process in the core area of our country, listing topics such as Competitiveness, Agribusiness and Education and therefore, configuring itself as strategic both to understand demands regional and local areas of the country, as well as to articulate dialogues to promote understanding aspects of the private sector for the development debate, considering that MDR in UNIALFA is a Business School situated program. So, it is possible to draw attention to elements such as local and regional social demands for public policies for Development that consider the Goias specificities, also from the Midwest and part of the north of Brazil, where most of the program's students come from. Thinking about the demands based on research by teachers and students linked to the labor market, whether public servants, entrepreneurs, or workers in the private sector, is an important exercise for a complex, extensive country, with a large population, and with so many regional disparities.
