Abstract

Contributions from the Graduate Program in Urban Management, held by Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Paraná (Brazil), form the basis of our discussion. From the time frame of its creation, we reflect on the thematic constitution of the Urban and Regional Planning field. The importance of operational boundaries for research and its composition in terms of networks are also discussed. Ultimately, we concluded that it is possible and necessary to research focusing on social inclusion and with/in a priority geographic context: Latin America and its larger context, the Global South. Theoretical questions about scientific topics in the field of Urban and Regional Planning and Demography are intertwined in this paper, even as the ways Brazilian graduate system is organized.

Keywords: PPGTU. Urban and Regional Planning. Urban Management. Brazilian graduate system.
