Study on the economic din mica of the municipality of Taquara/RS referenced in the local quotient methodology

Abstract

This article presents the results of a research that aimed to identify the current productive structure and analyze the recent economic dynamics in the city of Taquara, RS. The main analytical tool is the identification of the productive chains of the territory through the calculation and interpretation of urban and rural QLs for specific activities and sectors. The theoretical basis for regional development adopted was that of the “export base”, based on the locality and the region. The analysis of the results confirmed the hypothesis that the offer of health and education services and diversified commerce still justify the classification of the municipality as a regional pole. In addition, there are opportunities for strengthening the food industry combined with the rural environment.
