Gender inequality
an analysis of women in accouting in the northern catarinian region

Gender inequality is a great injustice, the Brazilian labor market traces that both the wage gap and female occupational discrimination are two attributes of gender inequality that has long been perceived. Therefore, the present study aimed to investigate evidence of gender inequality in the performance of accountants in the North Plateau of Santa Catarina. Gender inequality, according to the IBGE, is the social differences that exist between the sexes and that were built over the years, in the unique sense of distinguishing the biological differences between men and women. The research is characterized as quantitative with regard to the data analysis treatment method, how many to the research objectives the study was descriptive, and documentary with regard to data collection procedures. The study sample consisted of 65 graduates and academics from the Accounting Sciences course at UnC, Mafra campus. The results reflect that women still suffer from gender inequality, even though they have the same level of education as men, the remuneration is lower, showing gender inequality in the context of the accounting labor market in North Plateau of Santa Catarina. With regard to other factors such as: age group, company size, specialization or even length of service, they did not reflect wage differences.
