This article has as its theme decent work inserted in the sustainable development objective (SDG) 8 of the United Nations 2030 Agenda. It is questioned whether this objective with regard to the items related to decent work can be fully fulfilled in Brazil. The topic is extremely relevant, given the fact that some of the goals were already established to be fulfilled in 2020 and others on the way to the next 8 years, but during this time humanity has come to know a new reality, not imagined in the elaboration. of the document, which was the COVID-19 pandemic, significantly changing world priorities. The general objective is to analyze decent work, focusing on SDG 8 of the 2030 Agenda. The specific objectives are: to conceptualize and understand when the term sustainable development emerged, to verify what Agenda 2030 and SDG 8 of the United Nations consist of, to understand the work decent from the perspective of international organizations analyzing unemployment and child labor data. The work was structured in four parts: sustainable development, United Nations 2030 Agenda, analysis of SDG 8 and decent work. To carry out the research, the method of deductive approach and the technique of bibliographic and documental research were used. It was concluded at the end, based on the data collected, that despite the initiative of the countries in creating the objectives of the Agenda, in order to improve the quality of life of the world population, much still needs to be done, especially due to the COVID-19 pandemic be unexpected and have changed world priorities.
