Abstract

The present work aims to study the influence of the theory of Labeling Approach Theory before the analysis of crimes by both the legal community and the lay community. Through bibliographic research, we sought to demonstrate the basic concepts of criminology, social labeling and the materialization of this theory in today's society. A field research was carried out that showed hypothetical facts where different crimes occurred with the objective of verifying the reaction of the interviewees when they encounter certain labels that can be approved or disapproved in the society they live in. The analysis of the data from the field research provided the feeling that there may be a certain influence on the analysis of a crime based on a label, especially in the case of lay society.
