Femicide can be considered as the elimination of women's lives in the context of domestic violence, precisely because the victim is a woman. This work is justified in relation to the impact of the creation of the feminicide qualifier in cases of violence against women, notably in the State of Santa Catarina. The present study was carried out by the inductive method, through bibliographic, doctrinal research and research reports carried out in Brazil. The objective is to research the cases that occurred prior to the creation of Law No. 13.104 / 15 and what changes occurred after its entry into force. It seeks to reflect on the rights of women throughout the historical evolution to the present day. It also seeks to understand the means used to protect women, whether these means are effective in Brazilian society and how Criminal Law has repressed domestic violence.
