This article reports on the search for the approval of domestic animals as subjects of rights in the legal system, brings the history of the evolution of domestic animals, from the beginning of time, where human beings learned to domesticate them, to the present day, where animals are part of families and, the paramount importance that they have to help improve the health and well-being of human beings. In view of this, the main question arose: considering the concept of subject of rights provided for in the current legal system, what are the changes sought by PL 6.799 / 2013, which changes the legal personality of domestic animals? The research uses the deductive method, starting from the civil base theory about the subject of law, for the analysis of animals as subjects of law and bill no. 6,799 / 2013. It uses the techniques of bibliographic and documentary research, from the consultation of doctrine, legislation and jurisprudence. The main objective of this article is to study domestic animals as a subject of law, for that, the concept of the subject of law will be analyzed, to study the theories about domestic animals and to analyze the bill and its consequences. In conclusion, finally, society needs such a change to be permanent, so that people begin to see domestic animals as beings that need protection, respect and dignity, above all and with that, both can live in a more peaceful and friendly way.
