This article aimed to analyze parental alienation sel-inflied, also called self-alienation, as well as the effects and consequences that may affect children or adolescents who are exposed to the court proceedings. We also sought to analyze the best conduct to be adopted by judges involved in the process, which generates less negative consequences to those involved. For the accomplishment of this article, the deductive approach method was used, with bibliographical research, doctrinal revision, search in scientific articles and interviews, as well as the analysis on the Brazilian legislation. Based on the analyzes produced, it was found that the minors involved in these cases can suffer psychological damages, which can last for the rest of their lives if not treated properly. It was also found that the self-alienator, seeking to reverse a situation that does not please ends up generating a much larger conflict and transcending the relationship between father and mother to affect the minor. Thus, it was concluded that mediation is the best conduct to be used to solve the dispute between both, since mediation will seek to deal with the conflict from its essence, making the former couple no longer create more problems; rather, they cooperate with each other for the good development of the minor who is the victim of all litigation.
