Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has had significant consequences for the global population. Among the groups that were directly affected are pregnant women. It is known that this group is more vulnerable to the effects of COVID-19. The objective of the research was to analyze the cases of COVID-19 in hospitalized pregnant women in a municipality in the southwest of Mato Grosso. Descriptive, exploratory, retrospective and documentary study, with a quantitative approach. The data referred to the period from April 2020 to April 2022, in the municipality of Rondonópolis, Mato Grosso, collected from the COVID-19 indicator panel in the State of Mato Grosso. They included all cases of hospitalized pregnant women notified by COVID-19 and clinical and epidemiological variables. Descriptive analysis of the data arranged in tables with simple and absolute frequencies was carried out with the aid of the R statistical software. The Chi-square adherence test and Kendall's correlation test were performed, at a significance level of 5% (p- value<0.05). Research approved by the Research Ethics Committee. During the study period, there were a total of 50 notifications of COVID-19 in hospitalized pregnant women. Cases predominated in the months of July 2020 and 2021 (16%), aged 30 to 39 years (50%), brown skin color (58%), had no comorbidity (74%), hospitalized in ward beds (72% ) and outcomes cure/discharge (82%) and deaths (14%). There was statistical significance of the studied variables. It highlights the importance of preventive measures and the attention of the scientific community to this group in order to prevent harm to the mother-child binomial.
