Abstract

Introduction: Dengue has a high magnitude and dissemination in Brazil, which index of incidence occupies the fifth position in America, so that the state of Goiás (GO) had the second position of incidence rates, and Itumbiara had the eighth position of cities in the state with the higher number of cases. Objective: This article aims to analyze the epidemiological profile of the disease in Itumbiara-GO, from 2007 to 2017. Methodology: This is a descriptive epidemiological study that analyzed the cases of dengue in Itumbiara, from 2007 to 2017, through data provided by the “Sistemas de Agravos e Notificação (SINAN)”. Results: There were 4471 cases (1 death) from 2007 to 2017. The cases were more prevalent in women. in the age group of 20 to 39 years. The majority of cases occurred in the first trimester and were mostly confirmed by laboratory criteria, except in epidemic years. In order to analyze the data, restrictions intrinsic to the use of secondaries database were considered. Conclusion: The study analysed the Socio-epidemiological profile of dengue cases notified in Itumbiara- Goiás (BR), from 2007 to 2017, besides that low numbers of records of dengue cases and types of evolution were observed in this study, this reflects fails in the operation of Epidemiological Surveillance.
