The purpose of this article is to discuss the resurgence of authoritarian and extreme right nationalist movements in various parts of the world based on two important authors within the scope of political philosophy, who are Karl Marx and Wendy Brown. From the Marxian reflections about the relation between man and state and the fetishism of the commodity, we will discuss how nationalism can be perceived as a form of fetishism, in which the nation appears as a category that subordinates men and direct them to fight everything that does not belong to a certain territory and has the potential to colapse the national community. As for Wendy Brown, we will focus our analysis from her diagnosis on the phenomenon of walling as a result of the decline of political sovereignty that sustain the states and the national imagination against the supposed enemies that have the potential to dissolve the nation, namely, the immigrants
