The media builds a reality at the same time that it is built by the society to which it belongs. Political, ideological and intellectual interests are placed on the pages of newspapers, which, after power games instituted within the configuration of the newspaper, the political projects of the newspaper emerge. This article studies the foundation of the newspaper O Progresso from Ponta Grossa in Paraná State and the ideological project of the newspaper, analyzing the discursive disputes of the publication in relation to the strategies of power and discourse in the pages of the periodical and in the social configuration.
