Abstract

The Amazon has a long trajectory of experiences for regional development, which we can point from 1950 to the present. In each decade the development proposal characterized by the analytical, diagnostic and prognostic beacon has been changed, according to the development project hosted by the federal government management. The aim of this paper is to take stock of the development policies for the Amazon from 1950 to 2015, focusing on the themes that were prioritized in the state's regional development policy agenda, seeking to ascertain how the regionalization of space has changed. from the macroregional to the microregional scale, with an emphasis on territorial inequalities.The methodology applied for the analysis of this article was the qualitative analysis of policies, programs and plans for the development of the Amazon, in the time frame 1950 to 2015, Preliminary Conception of Economic Valorization of the Amazon and First Five-Year Plan, by SPVEA; Operation Amazon and the I SUDAM Master Plan; The study Axes of integration and development; and the National Regional Development Policy (PNDR), the Sustainable Amazon Plan (PAS), the Xingu Sustainable Regional Development Plan.The regionalization of the territory for public policy planning was introduced late in the federal government's agenda and there is a strong predominance of land occupation, sectorial planning with bias in productivity, exportation and integration to the national market via raw materials.
