the social configuration of the newspaper Diário dos Campos and the eugenic representations

Abstract

This article studies the discourses on the improvement of the Brazilian race with greater acceptance in the pages of the newspaper Diário dos Campos, in Ponta Grossa in Paraná, between the years of 1908 and 1916. For this, the publications of Diário dos Campos, and based on the concepts of appropriation and representation seeks to understand the relations of power built in the newspaper environment that permeated the production of these discourses and the positioning of the publication's collaborators in relation to the central issues of human improvement in the local environment, such as money laundering, immigration and fight against racial poisons.
