Abstract

This article presents the trajectory of the Postgraduate Program in Dinâmicas Regionais e Desenvolvimento (PGDREDES) - the first academic master's degree in the Litoral Norte of Rio Grande do Sul - as well as the first baccalaureate in Regional Development in Brazil, implemented in the Campus Litoral Norte (CLN) of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). The PGDREDES, although approved in 2018 by the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (Capes), has its genesis in the planning of the Campus - first outside the UFRGS headquarters - still in 2009, as a result of the mobilization of the community of the Litoral Norte Region of Rio Grande do Sul. This planning was included in the Institutional Development Plan of UFRGS for the period 2011-2015, and the Campus began its activities in September 2014, with baccalaureate Interdisciplinar em Ciência e Tecnologia (BICT) and the Licenciatura em Educação do Campo (Educampo). BICT is an interdisciplinary course that offers four other courses, called terminals, including the baccalaureate in Desenvolvimento Regional (RD). In addition, this interdisciplinarity brings together a group of professors with different academic backgrounds and backgrounds that allowed the creation of a postgraduate program in regional development. Today PGDREDES is in its third class, the first of which is in the thesis defense phase. The RD had its first Course Conclusion Works defended in the last semester.
