Sociocultural inclusion differentiated from youth in the new models of urban development

The smart urban development model represents a recent phenomenon in Latin America. Cities like Medellín, Colombia are taking actions in order to promote this e-topia that suppose to improve the socioeconomic conditions of its inhabitants. This article aims to present the results of a master's research called "New models of urban development: Medellín digital city, Guadalajara digital creative city, a look from youth associative expressions" 2016-2018. Using ethnographic methods and techniques, the discourses and institutional vision about this urban development model of a smart city in Medellín, were examined, from development plans, official publications, press articles were examined, contrasting it with empirical data obtained in the field from the voice of young members of some Youth Associative Expressions (EAJ). The analysis made it possible to identify differentiated sociocultural inclusion processes of youth to this development model and the various heterotopias that they build to counteract it.
