The article explores the theme of social entrepreneurship and how it correlates in the modus vivendi of women artisans in Barbacena -MG who informally participate in the free handicraft fairs in the municipality, as well as the meanings that they attribute to their marketing practice that results in their inclusion / social exclusion. To this end, the bibliographic review and the application of 12 semi-structured questionnaires became the foundation of this essay. The analysis, anchored in the themes of Entrepreneurship and Social Entrepreneurship, allowed to map polysemic aspects of women's representations with regard to their position in this niche market, notably perceived in the literature as an instrument for evading the precariat. The study concludes that the protagonists attribute multiple meanings to their performance in this context, such as that their product, before assuming financial value, receives subjective issues such as personal fulfillment and status vis-à-vis the group they participate in and the society they integrate.
