Human Resources policies and practices greatly contribute to the satisfaction of an employee, and this is equally relevant to Higher Education Institutions, since teachers need to be motivated and willing to remain in teaching. In this sense, this study aimed to analyze the perception of teachers from 11 community and private Higher Education Institutions in Santa Catarina, in relation to the six Human Resources practices and policies: (1) recruitment and selection process, (2) involvement , (3) training, development and education, (4) working conditions, (5) performance and skills assessment and (6) compensation and rewards. This bibliographic research, of quantitative nature, non-experimental, parametric, transversal, descriptive and with survey - survey, had 506 active professors as a research universe. The results indicated a profile predominantly composed of women, with professionals aged between 26 and 37 years, married, with 10 years of service, masters and graduates in Administration. It was possible to conclude that the HEIs present different organizational contexts, but some of their Human Resources practices have to be worked on, such as the “recruitment and selection process” and “remuneration and rewards”. This is because, the more involved the employee is, the better he will work for the organization, thus bringing satisfactory results to both.
